    What was your first handgun?

My first was/is my Ruger MkI Target pistol to the best of my recollection.

    "Shorty Shotty"

What's it like shooting a shotgun like the one pictured with no stock on it? How controllable is it with full-power ammo? I've been thinking about getting a "tactical" 870 but haven't been able to come up with a suitable (for the wife, that is) justification for the purchase.

Letter to stores with "no guns" signs.

Unfortunately, in Wisconsin all a business owner has to do is display a "no weapons" sign (the format and text of which is totally undefined by law to the best of my knowledge) at every door to their premises. The location is supposed to be at eye level but even that isn't well defined in the...

    Winchester 94 help

I'd take the sights completely off the rifle. If you need help with disassembly information, PM me. I have access to info and have a 94 to look at on my end as well.

Next Project: High Standard P100 Sportking .22 pump

That's a very good description of the requirements. In addition, I always try to make sure that my projects are done right the first time. That way I don't have to re-do them which would take even more time.

    Please join me in prayer

We've been thinking about y'all a lot lately and am glad to hear that she finally has peace. I hope you and your daughter do to.

    LCR rosewood grips

The funny thing is that is true even when I'm retired. I have two new bathroom vanities and a dining room buffet/hutch designed but haven't even gotten the material for them yet. Sometimes a little project gets done just because it can be squeezed in between the bigger plans. That pushes...

    LCR rosewood grips

Many years ago I bought a piece of Brazilian rosewood for no reason other than its beauty. It's highly figured and the coloring is astounding. My understanding is that Brazilian rosewood is no longer available in the USA lumber market. Maybe one of these days I'll turn it into a few pistol grips.

What are you planning on acquiring in the next 12 months?

I get the impression that you can double or triple your output when making quantities of the same pieces. That's a nice machine. Will you be able to make your own dies for simpler parts? How many pieces would you have to make with a die to pay for a die made by the manufacturer with saved...

    Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I hope y'all will be with family today. Today is really special for us. Not only is it Thanksgiving, but it is my Dad's 91st birthday. Believe it or not, he still plays tennis a couple times a week. Unfortunately, he's in San Antonio and we are in Wisconsin today...

What are you planning on acquiring in the next 12 months?

At first that looked like a milling machine but now I'm very curious to learn about what it really is.

    Small carry .45

Does he have any preferences as to single-stack or double-stack? I don't know much about recent products, but something along the line of the Colt New Agent (similar to the older Colt Defender) is what I might want to carry.

    Chinese Type 56 SKS

I had a military-issue SKS for a while and then traded it for the one I have now which had been "sporterized". The wood stock parts are replaced by a one-piece stock made of some sort of plastic. The bayonet and bayonet mount are gone. The one thing that I found really important to do to...

    First time casting bullets

I wouldn't do that. It would, more than likely, soften the alloy. When I was casting bullets (I have not done so in 8 years or so), I sometimes added a little tin to wheel weight metal. It seemed to help the metal flow in the mold better as I recall. However, what I added was generally...

    First time casting bullets

Fantastic. The last load I got (a few years back) cost me something. I had always gotten the wheel weights for free but back then there was apparent competition for them. Please be especially careful to provide GOOD ventilation when melting the wheel weight material. One very useful thing...

Next Project: High Standard P100 Sportking .22 pump

Just today I've been using the technique to square up some steel panels I'm going to use in making a custom box for my tractor. The draw filing was done to make the edges of the panels as close to perfectly square as I can so they will fit together nicely.

So is it allowed or not?

The rule that was quoted is ancient and there is no longer a forum for that sort of posting. That was dropped a couple of years ago in the old forum and was not replaced when this one took over for the old forum. I'll PM the admin about removing the obsolete rule. Thanks.
