A friend asked for recommendations for a small carry .45. I thought the Springfield XDs, and the Kahrs CW45 or PM45. Anyone care to weigh in?

Does he have any preferences as to single-stack or double-stack?

I don't know much about recent products, but something along the line of the Colt New Agent (similar to the older Colt Defender) is what I might want to carry.

I, like several others here, choose the XDs. The minute I picked it up I could tell. It just felt right!JMHO

I agree with mukwah, as soon as the XDs went in my paw I knew it would be my next handgun purchase. ;)

XD would do the job for sure. I would also like to add a small .45 but I am leaning more towards a 1911 style. Warthog looks nice and also affordable, but it is hard to get reliable reports. One guy says his is awesome and he couldn't be happier. The next guy says he hated his and traded it for a fishing rod and can of Skoal.

S&W makes the world's smallest semiautomatic 45 don't they? Can't remember the specific nomenclature but it looks just like their 39**series. I love my Firestar M45...

6.75" long
4.75" tall
3.8" barrel
36oz (very heavy and solid)

All stainless steel, spare parts on Sarco. Should go for around $300.

Yours look like they will stand up well to the pounding BTB! What is the capacity for both?
The Springfield XD-s is getting rave reviews. I considered one of those ... for a (long) while.

The 45 atop is 6 + 1
The 9mm below is 7 + 1

The 9 is my EDC.

4.5"

I absolutely love them, but very hard to find parts for the 9mm. Very!! Lol
