Thanks for the input fellas. I think I'll refinish and put some walnut grips on it too. Make it more of a tribute build to my grandfather than some sentimental keepsake.
It had a busted Bakelite grip when I got it. Never could find any online, but happened across a set at a gun show. Only reason I go to gun shows anymore is for stuff like that. If he'd had a barrel I probably wouldn't even have noticed at that time.
So I've got this idea in my head, but I'm having a little trouble talking myself into it. Every time a discussion about .22 pistols comes up I completely forget that I own this thing because I never shoot unsuppressed anymore. I got this 1951 Colt Woodsman from my grandfather who has since...
I doubt mineral spirits or paint thinner would do much unless it's an oil based paint. I would go with lacquer thinner or acetone. If the previous attempts don't work.
Depends on what kind of paint it is. Solvents shouldn't hurt the blue, but if it was a catalyzed or baked on finish, solvents probably won't be aggressive enough.
I'd try solvents and sonic cleaner first.
You can get different versions that take either Glock mags, m&p mags or beretta mags. No reason you can't stick a 30 rounder in there or even hang a drum under it.
**Nevermind. I got mixed up, that's the Kel-tec.
I shot a hi-point pistol once and it was all over the place. Least accurate and most inconsistent hand gun I've ever fired. They're reliable though.
The carbine is great. Reliable, accurate, compact. I don't know why people knock them. I'd own one.
I don't have a single semi that will cycle Quiets. Ruger SR22, 22/45 Lite, GSG 1911, HK 416D. Not a single one of them will cycle. CCI standard stays subsonic, so they are my go-to now.
I'm really bad about not wearing eye protection. Today was a bit of an eye opener for me. I'll be a little more careful for the next week or so. Then I'll go back to the way I've always done it.
