    RATS! 4,500 men down!

Verti, there are several times when deliveries via UPS and FedEx have been delivered to our neighbors. Fortunately, we live in a very friendly country neighborhood and we've always gotten our packages but it's still frustrating when that happens. We know Dave, our regular UPS driver, very well...

    Marlin 336, change of plans!

I've never seen or dealt with Duracoat. How does it work? Does it combine with the steel or is it simply a fancy sort of paint? Can a Duracoat finish be scraped off with normal handling of what it's applied to? In other words, if you Duracoated a rifle bolt would the coating be scraped off...

    Hypothetical

I second Hank's comment. For up-close self-defense use, I want something that's as simple to use as a revolver but smaller and more easily concealed. This translates to the LCP and Glock 19 for me. I haven't handled an LC9 but it might fit the bill for me as well. Personally, I would never...

    Which to carry??

I fully agree with Ray. I wouldn't carry a family heirloom firearm, for example. Basically I'd choose between my LCP and my Glock 19 for carry while I have a bunch more that I probably wouldn't care to carry.

    Which to carry??

No doubt, if a pistol (or any other weapon) was used in a shooting and was available to the authorities it would be held as evidence. Around here, the legal owner of a legal-to-own weapon would ultimately get it back unless the owner was guilty of a crime with the weapon. Since the legal...

    Cheaper Than Dirt

I suspect that they got "discovered" as an untapped source for AR stuff and got hit hard with orders. I presume that I was just quite lucky to find what I did when I did and at prices that were normal for them before the crunch.

    LCR rosewood grips

My experience is that shape is far more important than material when getting a grip to work best for a shooter. Many years ago, I carved a set of walnut grips for my S&W 19 Combat Magnum that fit my hand precisely. That made a world of difference in handling hot loads in the pistol.

    'Lizbeth, Chooot

My wife would probably love to have a box of that "Troy Landry" ammo and she doesn't even normally like to choot. She does love the show, though. ;D

    AR question

YZ, one additional tool that you should get is a Bolt vise. This little tool holds the bolt and depresses the ejector so you can then drive out the roll pin that retains the ejector. You'll want to do this when you do a detailed cleaning of the bolt or when you want to do a headspace check...

    AR question

I've got enough to sell you all you want at ten bucks a round..... ::) Seriously - that's a nice looking stick. I do hope you can find something to feed it soon.

    Happy birthday to me

While I agree, I have a couple of rifles that like to wear knives once in a while.

380 New Jeff Hayes LCP Cross Draw OWB

Mayo, I think you've given me an idea for a cross-draw design variation of the holster I made for strong-side OWB. When I find time, I'll work on it.

Rich, you have a problem. There are too many pistols there. Send me a few and you'll have adequate space. ::)

    It followed me home

That reminds me of a story told many years ago by my grandmother and verified by my grandfather. My grandfather was a naval officer (later retired as a Rear Admiral) who was teaching at the Naval Academy sometime between WW1 and WWII. My grandfather (the gun enthusiast who passed on his...

    New gun for 2013

I think my next gun - if I can find one - will be a Remington 870 tactical style 12-gauge shotgun (no pistol grip but long magazine and a picatinny rail for mounting an optical sight).

    New Years

That does sound yummy. I grew up mostly in the deep South until I joined the Army and then married a full-blooded Yankee gal (German heritage and a great cook) here in Wisconsin. I still can't get her interested in black-eyed peas or grits, but she has acquired a taste for Cajun flavors...

    Any savings on reloading?

I've written a basic primer for folks who want to get started in hand-loading ammunition (basically the same process for loading new ammo - no used components - or reloading cartridge cases that have been fired one or more times). It's titled "An introduction to reloading ammunition" and can be...
