2017 Ohio Concealed Carry Application Checklist

I know many Sheriff's also require you to bring a passport sized photo taken within the last 3 month. This is necessary to complete the background checks.

2017 Guide To Ohio Concealed Carry Reciprocity States

Good post David. I would also suggest posting the link to the site: www.handgunlaw.us I give this link to all my CCW students. Not only does the site clearly let you know where you can and can't carry, it also gives a good synopsis of the laws of each state along with links to the actual...

Is it legal to Post office concealed carry

Regardless of Ohio law, Federal law prohibits post office carry. So even if you weren't violating Ohio law (which you would be), it would be a Federal crime.

What position do you cary concealed in?

3 o'clock for me (sometimes I'll slide it back to 3:30 or 4:00 though).

    Rest Area Carry Changes

You are correct, Chris."Restroom" would be like the bathroom house at a park or campground, and "rest facility" would be a rest stop along the highway (they often have bathrooms and other conveniences like restaurants and vending areas.)

    Rest Area Carry Changes

Revised Code specifically says in section 2923.126(B):  A valid license does not authorize the licensee to carry a concealed handgun into any of the following places: (9) Any building that is a government facility of this state or a political subdivision of this state and that is not a building...

Best way to safely store your firearms

One of my safes is a 48 gun and it holds my scoped rifles. I have 14 rifles in that safe and can't squeeze in another.

Best way to safely store your firearms

That's true Chris. There are some decent options for just over twice the cost of the stack on cabinet I listed. It may be a better place to start. But as we all know, we all eventually need bigger safes. I'm at the point now where I think I am going to just get another safe soon. They fill up so...

Best way to safely store your firearms

While I would advocate saving up to get a real safe (and the rule of thumb is always get twice the size safe you think you will need), I certainly understand that may take time and you need safety now. Since you have an AR15 you will need storage for long guns as well as pistols. I would say a...

    Looking for a new range

What I'm saying is that the membership fee for most clubs is less than you would pay for a range that is pay as you go. Significantly.

    Hog hunting round....

A good 5.56 round kills tons of hogs every day. I'd opted for the suppressed gun.

    Looking for a new range

Why no membership? The private club is a much cheaper and better option for shooting on your own than any other public option. Check out your local sportsman's club. In my county, our club has a huge 200 yard rifle/pistol range with 5 very large bays. Membership is $75 a year and members can use...

    Ohio ccw with car holsters

I consider myself pretty aware of my surroundings. But there are times when we have to let people close enough to us to be dangerous. Remember, a human can cover 15 yards in a second. Story time. Once upon a time I was driving in Toledo in a high traffic area. There were a bunch of people on the...

    Home defense shotguns?

Amen! That's the key. Bullets penetrate. That's what they do. If they didn't, we wouldn't use them to defend ourselves. We just need to remember we are responsible for every piece of lead that comes out of our guns. There's no perfect solution.

New addition to my iconic american guns collection

Yeah, I dig the history aspect. It has some initials under the grips. I'm going to get a factory letter from Colt soon and cross my fingers it was shipped to an individual instead of a store so I can identify those initials. I would love to track down more history of the gun.

New addition to my iconic american guns collection

I sort of have a thing for picking up examples of the iconic guns in American history (Colt ARs, Colt 1911s, Winchester 94, etc...). I've got a few of these in my collection, but until recently I never got the itch to delve into the Colt SAA world. I don't really have a desire to get into it...

    Home defense shotguns?

Every test I've seen the 5.56 had lost so much energy, it may penetrate a layer of drywall, but not seriously hurt a human. I'm not doubting your link, just that I've seen enough others that contradict it. The fact is, interior walls and drywall offer basically no resistance to both pistol and...

    Ohio ccw with car holsters

There is no statute that specifies how a licensee can carry in a vehicle. Basically ccw holders can carry their loaded pistol anywhere in the vehicle. The AG does give a strong/bold warning in the booklet that the pistol should be carried so that it is not accessible to unauthorized persons...

    Home defense shotguns?

What are your thoughts on the tests that show a .223 round will inevitably tumble upon hitting drywall and have very low energy on the other side of the wall? While I agree that fragmentation is most important when considering a round that won't penetrate walls, I have seen some pretty...
