Things you wish were taught in your ccw class

I'm with Chris. We cover pretty much everything you mentioned in our CCW classes. Research your instructors before just responding to an ad for a guy teaching the class for $50. Unfortunately many people are out there just giving out certificates or using the NRA Basic Pistol class entirely and...

    Looking for an ar

Hang in there man. I had back surgery in 2011. I was able to start shooting again fairly quickly (a couple months) but I wasn't the same for a couple years. I think I developed some bad habits during recovery that took quite a while to train out of myself. Stick with it and you'll be a pro in no...

The most important election of our time for the second amendment

My belief is that we can endure 4 years of anyone. So my policy is to vote for the candidate who will put appropriate justices on the supreme court and judges on federal benches. Those appointments are lifetime appointments and a single justice can do a lot of damage over their lifetime (I'm...

Nice rifle. Hope you enjoy it.

    Looking for an ar

A barrel variance that throws off groups of one weight of bullet doesn't necessarily affect other weights of bullets in the same way. So just because it shot 55gr poorly and heavier bullets just fine does not mean twist rate is the culprit. Your football analogy is spot on regarding a twist...

    Looking for an ar

But are you sure that's attributable to the twist rate? I think many times a poor shooting barrel gets put on twist rate with no real proof that's the problem. When in reality, big groups are likely a completely different issue altogether. Based on bullet physics, wide group spreads isn't...

    Looking for an ar

Twist rate has been nothing but empty speak in my experience. My Colt 6940 has a 1:7 rate and can easily shoot very short/light bullets with no effects of too much spin. And I have a bushmaster with a 1:9 twist that I set up for long range and it is a tack driver with 75 grain Hornady match...

    Places of worship

Yeah, from my experience, Catholicism can be tricky. There was a group doing a charity gun raffle and it was being held at a Catholic church/school. The waters got pretty muddy when the local priest/council approved the event but the regional authority came in and shut it down. All I can say...

    Places of worship

It all depends on your particular church's polity. With most "christian" denominations, there is a particular way business is conducted and I would make sure to follow that (moreso than just a letter from the preacher, unless of course, that's where the authority lies). I know in my church, we...

Ohio residents break the chl record

I suggest shopping around for quality, not price. Find the best instructors in your area and pay whatever their class costs. I know money can be tight, but good instruction is always worth the cost. I don't know anything about the class you saw for $40, but unfortunately, many of those classes...

    The ar15 pistol...why?

That is not true. Federal and State regulations are different and having paid a $200 tax to the feds to allow you to have a short barreled rifle does not negate state law that prohibits loaded long guns in vehicles. The only way to have a loaded AR in your car is if it is in pistol configuration.

Just drew my gun for the first time ever.

I'm glad you're safe and it sounds like you did the right thing.

    Lady friendly ccw handguns

If you don't want to wait for September or drive to Chris's class (although it's likely some of the best training you will find), we also teach ladies only classes and have a wide variety of guns you can use. The benefit of trying out guns during your class before you buy is that you not only...

How many guns can you sell without an ffl?

Oh I get that the ATF likes to make their own rules, but that doesn't change the law. The law says nothing about "adding" it to your collection, but rather for the "enhancement" of a collection. Selling a gun the same day you buy it can certainly be legal under that definition from the statute...

Do i need to get a tax stamp for every nfa item i want?

Chris, you are right. I completely overlooked that question in the original post. You cannot legally build a "machine gun" anymore. Any fully automatic weapons in private hands are pre-86. And like you said, cost an arm and a leg.

Best pocket carry holster for 380?

I don't pocket carry much at all, but on the rare occasion I do, My Sticky Holster does just fine.

Do i need to get a tax stamp for every nfa item i want?

The stamp is for the specific NFA item you registered it for. You need a stamp for each individual NFA item.

Shipping a handgun to myself in another state?

Yes, you may. https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/docs/0501-firearms-top-10-qaspdf/download At least it's not a violation of law to do so. However, you cannot ship handguns via US mail, so you must ship them via private carrier (e.g. Fedex, UPS, etc...). Whether the private carrier allows you...

    Rifle in vehicle

If a magazine is loaded you must comply with 2923.16(K)(5)(a)(ii) as posted above, which says it must be in a part of the car that cannot be accessed without leaving the car (so trunk) and the mags must be in a separate container than the gun. It does allow for that separate container to be a...

How many guns can you sell without an ffl?

Just because you buy a gun with intent to sell it doesn't automatically make you a dealer for federal law purposes. The law specifically says one can buy and sell guns "for the furtherance of a private collection" and still not be "in the business" of selling firearms. I have bought guns that...
