    SIgn it

I have no doubt he will sign it. This is the standard practice on firearms bills. He usually will wait until December 30 or 31 and it will take effect March 30. It passed with overwhelming support and Kasich has a track record of signing such bills. I think he decided to deal with the Abortion...

Glock 42, vs Glock 43, vs Glock 26 for concealed carry this winter?

I agree that with handguns it's all about shot placement, not size of bullet. In fact, since we are talking about 9mm to .380, size of bullet isn't the issue since they have the same diameter. But as for the discussion in the article, it doesn't work that well because there are literally...

Glock 42, vs Glock 43, vs Glock 26 for concealed carry this winter?

For winter carry, the G26 wins hands down. With winter clothing, concealment isn't an issue at all. In fact, I usually go up to a G19/23 size for winter, then the G26 for general dress, and the G43 for deep concealment/pocket carry. I carry all 3, but find I usually just throw the G43 in my...

Best available self defense ammo for revolvers

I'm a fan of buying a .357 gun if I'm thinking of using .38 spl. You then have a choice of shooting either .357 or .38.

Shooting to the left by about 1-3 inches

Good point Chris. That may very well be the culprit (or even a combination of the two).

Alien gear cloak tuck 3.0 review

This has been my experience with Alien Gear as well. I usually buy one at our local gun shop when I buy a new carry gun and use it until a crossbreed can be ordered and delivered (usually 4-6 weeks). By this time the Alien Gear is wearing out a bit anyway. Then the crossbreed lasts me for years.

Shooting to the left by about 1-3 inches

Sounds like anticipating recoil, which could be expected with a 500SW. Many people have ideas of how to correct it, but on thing I've found works well is to focus intently on the front sight and as you slowly apply pressure to the trigger rearward, visualize the front sight being pulled back...

    Holster question

My cousin's husband makes handcrafted and kydex holsters of the highest quality. He's a small, one-man operation here in Ohio. He really does amazing work.  SOB Holsters:  https://www.facebook.com/SobHolsters  or  http://sobholsters.weebly.com/ Here is one he did for me that I use for work...

    Ohio CCW Laws Quick References

Good summary, David. One clarification so there is no confusion: you might want to replace "firearm" in the transportation section with "handgun". It's important to note that even with a CCW license, you still can't have a loaded long gun in the car.

Concealed carry in public malls in ohio?

You're in Toledo, right? I haven't been to the Franklin Park mall in over 10 years, but my understanding is that the teens/gangs are taking over much like they did Southwyck back in the day. If that's the case, the end is in sight. I stay far away from that place. If we need to go to a "mall"...

    Looking for a new range

David, the Fulton County Sportsmen's Club is where I go. It is in Wauseon, just off Airport Highway. So 30 minutes or so from Toledo. Here's their website if you are interested. You just need to go to a meeting or a trap shoot to sign up and join.  http://www.fultoncosportsmenclub.org/

How far should you stay from knife wielding suspects?

An average human can cover 10 yards in a second. I try to teach a minimum standard for drawing from concealment to first shot of 1.5 seconds, with a goal of 1 second flat (and faster with practice). With that said then, anyone with a knife withing a 10+ yard radius of you is an immediate threat...

Concealed carry in public malls in ohio?

My solution is that I don't go to the malls at all. I haven't been to our local mall in more than 15 years. Never missed it once.

Do not panic buy... just yet

Potentially for decades to come if we can strengthen the Supreme Court on the 2nd amendment now. And with a Republican Senate, that is very likely.

    HPR Ammo for self defense

It's frangible. I don't care for frangible ammo at all (it's good to shoot at soft steel that other ammo would damage, but that's about it).  As for HPR, I've heard decent things. Apparently all american made with pretty exacting standards. So their ammo in general should be good stuff. But I...

[Article] - Trump's Recent Political Failings Is Leaving Our Second Amendment At Risk

No doubt this election sucks. It just reaffirms the importance of keeping control of both houses of Congress. If the republicans lose that, it will be a disaster no matter who wins the White House. We need to encourage people to vote in spite of the Presidential tickets, even if they leave...

[Article] - Trump's Recent Political Failings Is Leaving Our Second Amendment At Risk

Protecting rights is probably the single most important thing a president can do (especially through supreme court nominees). History has proven that once rights are taken away or no longer recognized/protected, you can never get them back. A president with bad policies is something our nation...

CCW Permit was denied in Hocking County

I'm glad it has worked out for you (I guess we'll know for sure when you get your license). The $67 fee is the background check fee so they need to charge it every time they run the check. But after all, $67 is a small price to pay to correct your mistake on your application and get licensed.

CCW Permit was denied in Hocking County

As Kyle says, once the Sheriff denies your license in writing, you need to appeal. You can appeal to the Sheriff, so just stop in or make an appointment and ask their process for appeals of denials. The law also allows for appeals to go through BCI. If you think some conspiracy against you, that...
