Several Current Bills regarding Concealed Carry in Ohio Legislature

Here is a summary of 4 bills that are currently in the Ohio legislature. All four were argued in committee yesterday, June 20. I would guess that some portion of these will get passed (likely in 2018 or possibly this December) but I wouldn't look for all of them to be passed as they are. However...

What is the best way to train for one handed shooting?

The best answer is to practice practice practice. One handed shooting, including slide manipulation and reloads, should be a regular part of the training of any person who carries a gun for defense. There are a lot of useful, and not so useful, tips out there if you look. But something that...

[Article] - Why Stash Guns Are A Terrible Idea

"If you are lucky enough to have multiple guns then safely storing a "stash gun" may become a viable option in your house, but it is essential you follow good firearm safety storage guidelines, and have a weapon readily available to you at all time." The above quote from the article is really...

Just Added A Mossberg 590 Shockwave To The Collection

The only real ambiguity is that Ohio doesn't define the term "shotgun". It simply says a shotgun with a barrel less than 18" or with an overall length of less than 26" is a dangerous ordnance. Since they don't define "shotgun", the issue is whether or not this is a shotgun. Under federal law...

[Article] - How To Fly With A Firearm & Ammo

You can. Just follow TSA guidelines: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunition I usually advise to use original box if possible because that creates no confusion or ambiguity at all.

Just Added A Mossberg 590 Shockwave To The Collection

Haven't seen anything official from other Prosecutors, but I have had some FFL dealers inquire about it. I come down on the side that since Ohio law doesn't define "shotgun" that we should use the definition that Federal Code uses, since that would be the commonly understood meaning in this...

[Article] - How To Fly With A Firearm & Ammo

My advice is use a combination lock only. Never give access to your lock to anyone, not even TSA. The best way to do this is a combination that only you know and if TSA asks to get in your case then YOU open it. A key is too often lost and even TSA agents will try to get you to hand them your...

    Anyone have concealed carry insurance?

Oh HOG2K, I don't think your police friends know much about civil law. Their statements are basically true for criminal liability, but civil lawsuits by the family of the attacker you shot are a whole different animal. Civil law is an arena where truth and justice rarely matter in these wrongful...

Holster causing pants to fall, how can i keep pants up??

Everyone has already hit the nail on the head. I always tell people that your belt purchase is as important, if not more important, than your holster purchase for carrying a gun. Don't skimp on your belt.

[Article] - Tips to Properly Store Ammo

Yup, those will work just fine. Even though I have a dehumidifier in my safes I still have some of those on each shelf.

    Passenger duty to notify?

Yeah, the statute is clear when a motor vehicle is involved. However, not as much when you aren't in a car. That portion simply says if the licensee is stopped for a law enforcement purpose. That begs the question what if a companion of yours is stopped by an officer while walking down the...

    Passenger duty to notify?

Short answer is Yes. R.C. 2923.126(A) says in part: "...If a licensee is the driver or an occupant of a motor vehicle that is stopped as the result of a traffic stop or a stop for another law enforcement purpose and if the licensee is transporting or has a loaded handgun in the motor vehicle...

[Article] - Tips to Properly Store Ammo

If you keep it in your house that is air conditioned it will be fine. An air conditioner cools the air in part by removing moisture from it. While I keep my ammo in a safe with a dehumidifier, I wouldn't have any problem just keeping it in the boxes in my air conditioned house. If you don't...

    Browning BPS models

They are great, reliable shotguns. I'm not a big fan of bottom ejecting guns, but no real reason, just preference I guess. I also have found them to be a bit of a nightmare to take apart and put back together. Maybe I just need more time with them. But I've shot them and hunted with them at...

[Article] - Constitutional Carry Bill Makes its Way to Ohio Legislature

There are two other important bills in the Ohio Legislature that should also be followed. One is the "duty to inform" bill that would remove the requirement that a CCW license holder inform an officer that he is carrying a gun. And the other is a bill to remove the "duty to retreat" element of...

Just got a Glock 26 for summer time!

Very nice. I have found that the Glock 26 with the +0 mag extension fits my hand even better than the Glock 19 and I have large hands (I'm 6'5"). With so many complaining about the ergonomics of Glocks, I have found the Glock 26 fits me like a glove.

How is everyone storing their ammo?

Original boxes for me. My home is climate controlled, and my safes are climate controlled, so the cool dry place is already taken care of. The original boxes just make life easier for me. Plus, the cardboard will absorb moisture which is one added barrier to the ammo getting damp. Since guns are...
