What the actual fuck is going on with coronachan ...fed cut interest rate down to near zero and Dow is already down 1k points...not to mention the fed pump 500b into the banks. This shit is starting to sound more like economic collapse by the minute

Dow hit limit down. 5%

That's my beef with 5.56 . The energy delta doesnt bother me too much, because 5.56 has enough for soft tissue....but I dont want to be hugely concerned with barriers or even dense foliage. I think the 70+ grain ammo helps, but to what degree I dont know enough
Fwiw 7.62x39 does do a fair number on cars. Paul Harrell did a YouTube video of AR v. AK stopping power or something like that and it seemed pretty fair and objective.

I’ve been putting on the RNGun for seven plus years, RO’d, competed in many others, so I’ve been able to observe thousands of attempted long shots with each. 5.56 is the star of the show at short to moderate ranges, especially where quick follow up shots are required. At longer distances wind greatly affects drift on the lighter 5.56 rounds, sometimes making 500yd shots all but impossible. .308 really shines at that point. Additionally, just the sound of the steel being hit at 3-500 yrds gives audible witness to the power of the .308. I like them both, but I consistently perform better overall with the 5.56.

It's funny. I get all hot and bothered by Mk262 77gr 5.56, but in reality my M80 ball outperforms it in every regard

If you had to quantify the delta between your performance between the two, what would it be?
What platform in 308?

A RnG would be a good way to really see the difference I suppose.if its within 10% of each other I'd stick with 308...

M1A, irons. My run time with 5.56 is 10-15% faster. Speed on stages with multiple targets probably 30-40% faster with 5.56. The recoil from .308 just takes longer to recover from, and split seconds add up quick. Overall, I’ll be scored in top 15 or so percentile with .308. With 5.56 , if I don’t just blow a stage, I’ll place top ten. One can blow a score on a pistol stage, and ruin everything as well. (I do this occasionally, lol)

Interesting. 22" M1A?

There's no doubt a 5.56 would be faster. I've used M1A s a good bit. I would say that for me, I could be 20ish percent faster just generally operating a FAL vs an M1A. Despite both mags being rock and lock style, the FAL is far easier to do so with.

Anybody have actual experience with the Mossberg MVP scout bolt guns that will use AR10 mags or M1A mags? I've never actually used a Mossberg rifle, only their shotguns.

I had a MVP Predator with the bench stock and fluted barrel in 5.56. I used it to great effect to decimate the fox population. Had a ATN x-sight mounted on top and a surefire suppressor.

Heavy grain 5.56 is pushed around much less by wind than .308/7.63x51
One of the reasons the AR-15 dominates at the Camp Perry 1000 yard military rifle match where any current/former service rifle/caliber is allowed on the line.
