11 mags per rifle (1 in, 10 spares), 10K per caliber or 1K per rifle, whichever is greater, for storage. Practice ammo does not count. That's above the 10k/1k

If you lived thru the AWB era or Colorado bans, 10+1 will not seem outlandish. Preban Glock mags were $100 and up. AR mags $50. Or cheap no name POS AR mags for $30.
Ammo. Majority of cheap ammo is steel cased ammo from Russia. Imports can be stopped with an EO, if we get a different administration in WH. If you do not stock up now, I do not know what to tell you.

@Jeddak unfortunately I don't think I can justify $3-5k of .308 ammo and even 10 mags for the FAL will run between $350-500.

You can get mags for $20-$25 if you're patient enough. I've gotten Israeli mags from Sarco before and other places.
