Makes sense, I was just thinking that by the time you buy all the parts to shoot this round why wouldnt you be better off just getting a .308
It's a weight thing....that and parts compatibility.

So you have to use a specific bolt, barrel, and mags? the only real benefit of this over .308 is using a standard AR-15 Lower?
6.5 Grendel bolt(not really rare)
[strike] New follower in your 556 mag [/strike] whole new mag

Barrel

Here's my thing. I think a 30 cal AR15 is cool, but if the wound can't out do 556, then it's dumb.

300blk supers aren't really surpassing 556 wound channels, maybe the speed of the 30 ARX can help expand wind profiles.

So it's just a new follower, not a whole new mag?

And then would it only be a USGI mag follower? Or do they work across the board with PMAG's, Lancer's, etc.?

....but I would be willing to bet that 300BLK supers are defeating barriers that 5.56 isn't.

Nvm, it's not possible, 556 mags have internal ridges that won't allow for the 6.5 to doublestack

You going to tell us your steel plate story again? :boink:

Nope, but there is no way that a 115gr bullet going 2000fps is going to out penetrate a 62gr penetrator doing 3k.

62gr penetrators suck for just about everything other than that.

A 115 grain fmj at 2000fps is going to be a lot more versatile IMO.

Oh, I agree on the 62gr penetrator, I was just using it as an example. 69 gr blows hell out of 300 BLK ballistics as well.

True but hard if not impossible to suppress worth a damn.

Everything's a compromise.

I suppress the hell out of 5.56mm. If you mean subs. I have no interest in shooting subsonic ammo out of a rifle.

That's what pistols are for.
