In all seriousness, though, I just tried to poke you guys a bit. I like lever actions and the 30-30 is a known performer. I only wish you could get more rounds in those tubular, under-barrel magazines.

And CZ makes a "mini-Mauser" bolt action in 762x39. It's on my list to have someday.

I had an old pre-cross bolt 336 that was fucking amazing. I slicked up the action and had Pops refinish the stock and fore end. The bluing was perfect. Damn I miss that gun. That was one of those where as I was on my way to the meet I already regretted it. I almost considered asking the guy if I could back out but decided my word was worth more than a gun. That was one hell of a deer rifle.

I don't hunt but love to shoot. My 30-30 load is a 150 plated bullet over 10 grains of Unique moderately crimped. It turns the 30-30 into a .357 mag and costs less that a quarter to shoot.

While I'm glad that I helped him out.. it has been far the most sexy rifle I owned... and I own some pretty nice ARs.

I perfer 30-30 for a utility/ dispatching round. I don't care what anyone the internet says, a 30-30 round will NOT bounce off an armadillo. Also it will always cycle subsonic rounds, as soon as you cycle the lever.

150's are downloaded in factory ammunition to make the poi close to 170's. If you roll your own, you can safely up the velocity. 2,400 fps with CFE .223 and 2,500 with Leverevolution

The leverevolutions are nice. Dropped a deer at 230 yards. That used to be unheard of with a 30/30.

Have a friend that popped one around 200 with a 35 Remington. IT was a bang-flop. That is impressive for that squatty round for sure.
