I’m pretty sure it’s wiser to take cover than trust a plate, since a plate doesn’t come with a guarantee that the bad guy will always shoot you in the center mass 12x12 protected area. Human body is on average 7-9sqft area

Ceramics aren’t as fragile as people like to make them out to be. Will they last 30 years? No. Will I last 30 years? Probably not lol. I have seen dudes drop their carriers and get the Macarena Shake plates, and fall on their back hard on a single point like a rock and crack a plate but surprisingly out of thousands of soldiers I worked with I saw that maybe 3 times in weird ass situations. Ceramics held up just fine for goonin’ around theatre

Realistically it’s probably better to just have a chest rig and move faster. I have steel plates, I do pull ups and push ups w them on and it’s a bear.

I would wear my plates if I knew we were going to be in a prolonged firefight, i.e. holding a defensive position. For most assaults I preferred the mobility over security. The ability to shit and git is much more important in a guerilla style of combat.
