Fuck no, ceramics are better in every way shape and form. My large ceramic ESAPI plates are 6lbs each, multi strike API 30-06 rated. No spalling from impact, or gnarly transfer of energy to worry about.

And you know that the kinetic life ain’t all pretty right angles. Catch a oblique angry buzzing bee off some steel and you are going to lose some flesh over that. I completely understand the budget thing, and it’s better than nothing.....but those who have to fight for a living don’t wear steel for more than one reason. That second cut plate is weird to me. Looks like the “I hate my liver” model. I just don’t know about that.
