Any of y'all wanna sell me between 60-120 of brass "indoor range approved" 7.62x39, at a fair price. I've hit 3 shops today to find 0.0 rounds, including the range I went to with rental ak's.
Also: what is the best way to dampen felt heat on a cheap wasr upper hg? Paki tape? Insulate the inside of the handguard?

CZ2008 was notorious for the hand guard getting HOT after a few mags.
I used self adhesive insulated tape - the automotive kind - forget the brand name. But it was pretty effective.
Lined the hand guard with a couple of layers then trim to fit.
Self-Adhesive Aluminized Heat Barrier Tape, 1.5" wide x 15' | Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies
This self-adhesive tape is great to wrap around fuel lines, wires, or any odd shaped parts. Aluminized woven cloth reflects radiant heat up to 2000 degrees F and will stick to any clean surface.
I just shot a bunch of Yugo M67 brass case surplus last week... figured it wasn't worth selling. Guess that doesn't help now. Might have to order the stuff online, but it's probably easier just to find a new range that doesn't have bullshit rules like that.
The "upper hg" is less of a handguard and more of just a gas tube cover. Maybe get a cheesegrater? Could also probably bend a small piece of aluminum and fit it to the underside of the cover. Paki tape would probably just melt.

You gotta try it at least once. Best ever for new builds. I have a couple and am super pleased with results.

hard to find as 3x says. Considered the first gen andhad different, flat base plates. No steel fed lips on anybody them
