Despite the "poison bullet" hype, the 5.45 and 5.56 are so close to identical when it comes to wounding/killing at 300 meters and in that you couldn't plug an ant's ass with the difference. Great write up.....probably should be made permanent for others to reference in the future.
So...you're saying 5.45

7.62 x 51 is a killer for sure.....You know, 4 world wars and all the rest of it.
Way I see it is if the boog happens, I have a family with young kids, so speed isnt happening. However, I'd prefer to keep distance and the ability to punch through most object with enough energy left over for social work.

The AR is purely for home defense purposes.

I believe that is more of a stake mark to help keep the drum tight in the sight tower, rather than a zero stake. I have seen plenty and this stake was aligned, but the rifle was not zeroed.
As long as it was on paper it was factory zeroed.
I remember going out to a range with fresh conscripts and shooting PM. Fixed front and rear sights, standard army issue. Range officer went first. Missed first shot. Small round target. A few shots later he told us to aim at 7 o'clock to hit the bullseye. It worked.
In real life if he had aimed in the middle of COM, shot wouldd have gone into the heart, instead of between the lungs. Close enough for a pistol with fixed sights.
