Original bullet had a mild steel core. Banned from importation.only in 2020 would you see newly manufactured or new reman corrosive primer x39. I don't get why they remanufactured the ammo, why not just sell the old 1970s corrosive surplus as is

That's why you see bullet weight vary from 122 grain to 124. It depends on how they fill the extra space left by less dense steel insert.
It should not be. Before Wuflu, Russian SKS was $500 to $600 (for OG non re-arsenaled), Chinese $350, WASR waa $650.
Russian SKS are better made than Chicoms, better, more useful bayos. Made in lower numbers than Chicoms. SKS was a temporary rifle, while AK and AKM productions were set up.
I looked at this page and was surprised to see the warning there:
"These rifles will all need to be taken apart and cleaned thoroughly before firing. Also please remember that an SKS has a free-floating firing pin, which can cause slam fires if the firing pin is stuck in the outside position."
