You have to be a Federal LEO. Many employees at federal facilities (actually most employees), even at LEO training facilities are not classified LEO. Pretty much unless you are one of the following, you don't have the ability to carry on airplanes or nation wide beyond what the locality allows.

Border Patrol Agents Drug Enforcement
Administration Special Agents
FBI Special Agents
Federal Air Marshals
Immigration Enforcement Agents and Detention/Deportation Officers
IRS Special Agents
U.S. Marshals
U.S. Park Rangers
U.S. Secret Service Special Agents
Bureau of Prisons Correction Institute Staff
Customs and Border Protection Officers
Nuclear Materials Couriers
U.S. Park Policea
U.S. Secret Service Officers Uniformed Division
U.S. Capitol Police
U.S. Supreme Court Police

Under "H.R.218 - Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004", all the above and every other currently employed and in good standing (not under investigation) state, county, municipal LEO and qualified retirees (retired in good standing and are currently qualified to their state's standard) can carry nation without regard to the locality's state law/local ordinance, with the only real restrictions being certain federal prohibitions like airplane carry (unless on duty and escorting a prisoner/traveling in an official capacity AND have taken the "Flying While Armed" course) and certain federal buildings (court houses, White House, blah blah) but you must have your credentials (badge/ID) on your person at all times while armed.

@Gaige you should look into federal fire service, same benefits as fed Leo.
I have looked into Kings bay Naval base and ft Stewart as a DoD firefighter

InRangeTV did a much cooler and more practical comparison which also includes the SCAR 17 and AR-10. Not as in-depth, but informative.
The FAL is a slightly better platform than the G3, but modern designs facilitate faster magazine changes and lighter materials.
I still love the cool factor of the G3 style rifle. As far as a "go to war rifle" no thanks.
IF the SCAR wasnt 3k and IF they wouldnt have put that flimsy bitch ass plastic folding stock I'd be scar all the way. $2k and with the OG FAL folding mechanism itd be a home run.
