What years were you in Alaska? I was there in the winter of 89 for Brim Frost( 2 week joint US/Canadian military exercise). 2 weeks of temps when the high was -45 and lows hovering around -50 to -80 with wind chills down to -120, along with a North American-record high atmospheric pressure of 31.85 inches. So damn high that aircraft altimeters couldn't be set to field elevation and all flights were restricted to day, VFR only. Coldest I have ever been.Born in Siberia, swam in frozen lake as a kid. I like cold.
We used to sit in sauna for 15 min, then jump in the lake outside or go roll in the snow naked. Adrenalin shot and the most awesome feeling going from blazing hot to ice cold.
So there are multiple colors of gun candy?

So I just pick one of those colors and send my rifle TO @FatAlbert
Viper
Mongoose
Kraken
Mako
those all look awesome
oh yeah i agree, they are not organic to the gunBillboards on guns annoy me. I can't stand them. Especially on the Ruger revolvers.
So many cool colors to pick!!
if a milsurp gun doesn't have a billboard/import mark that means it is either a war bring back or imported prior to 1968 right?
gotcha, just been looking at these arisakas, no import markings I can see. You think this last ditch is safe to shoot? It seems to lock up good and the firing pin clicks. Noticed that these guns don't like being de-cocked, have to leave em with the firing pin engaged which I'm not a big fan of. I like my springs to rest relaxed lolGenerally that is correct, although there are exceptions.
Deployed from Colorado (FT Carson) to Anchorage (Elmendorf AFB) on a C-5. Unloaded the Helos, then flew north the Wainwright. Started out doing the mil exercise thing, transitioned to emergency aid ops getting frozen soldiers out of the field and checking on isolated locals. The Canadians crashed a C-130 on Wainwright during week 2. First plane made it and the heat from the engines caused ice fog to drop the visibility to zero while the second 130 was on final. Crashed short of the runway, killed 9.Wainwright?
I was in AK 1992 to 2011.
Anchorage, mostly. Spent some time in Fairbanks, the Panhandle, Prudhoe bay, Alpine.
I remember those temps. Windchill is what gets you.
Walk outside with a cup of hot coffee, throw it up in the air and watch coffee snow come down.
