Ok, so back in the day that was 16 cents/rd when I was buying it. But back in the day is only good if you have a time machine.

Pre-panic I wanna say it was selling for 38-45 cents/rd? Not really .308 equitable. I'm thinking something like 400 rds 54R for 300 rds .308?

Surplus 54R is corrosive so you have to pee down the barrel to keep the gun from melting in a couple of days. But before you do that you have to drink a metric ton of vodka so maybe something to consider.

Anyone feel free to check my math. I'm working on 30-something cents/rd for 54R and 50-something cents/rd for .308.

Looks to be about 20¢ per round after shipping.

I shoot corrosive surplus match ammo through my VEPR without a care in the world.

When I get home from the range I fill my wife's electric kettle and start heating the water. When it's boiling I pour it all over the exposed parts - receiver, barrel, piston, gas port, etc. Since the water is boiling it dries really quickly. Then clean like you would any rifle.

Corrosive sounds scary but it really ain't a thing.

I use Windex to clean mine and have never had an issue with corrosive ammo.
But Boiling water works Great Too :thumb:
