Think rounding that edge off a little bit and then going really slow filing down the front part until I can get the front of the mag to fit would be a good way to go about it?

I would. Century did a bad job on that WASR opening the magwell.

Yeah, I really dig the looks of a top load as well. But I do appreciate the fact that I can have a rear load filled to the brim without damaging the spring. Then I just have to wind it a couple times.
