Hey Guys,
Been out of town the last 3 days, visiting my father.
They began giving him morphine last night, and he will most likely pass today.
I just called and said my final goodbye.
He was strong until my brother and I arrived, and is now letting go.
Please pray for Lou. He had a very, very hard life, became a man, and contributed a lot to this world.
Please pray that he finds peace in his heart, and can accept God into it.
Please pray that he will finally find peace in his soul, in his heart, and in his mind.
Please pray that the next place will be far better to him than this world.
Please pray for Lou that he can finally rest.

Somehow my mom and I got on wills and stuff and I found myself telling her I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t like to think about it but one day I guess......
Absolutely silly not to sort it out now. No plan, no will, disaster for the family.
Having a detailed, documented will and detailed conditions makes life much simpler, and may head off bad blood between family members. Get a lawyer, get it done.

I get that part. I just have to face the sad reality of it. She has a will.
I’m basically at a stand still with dads stuff. All I have been able to do is cancel the cable... can’t do anything with health insurance,banking,homes or his IRA/401k till I get the “proper” paperwork filled out and submitted.
Having a will woulda been a lot easier.

She should (assuming you're the responsible soul she selects) give you some specific instructions for when the time comes. Pre-arranged funerals ain't a bad idea either. I was overwhelmed going to the funeral home a few years ago, mentally. Fortunately, the costs were not unmanageable, but I think for many people that would be a major issue.
Nobody lives forever. My wife doesn't like to talk about my passing, but the odds are, I'll go before she does. She needs to know about 401K, insurance, she even knows which buddies to call about guns.
Our next door neighbor died when I was a teenager. His wife made house payments for several years...then realized if she had reported his death to the mortgage company, the house would have been paid off immediately.
Information and communication are good things.
