I spent last night watching football and working on a upper handguard a bought from @Fast306stang a year ago. It looked like the lighter Polish laminate. It was dark but I suspected it had some amber shellac on it. I had been looking for a lighter Polish upper HG to swap out the darker on on my SAR1 wearing Polish furniture.

Well it turns out @Fast306stang done me right!!!!!!!!!!! AGAIN!
There was a lighter laminate Polish HG under there! I didn't take any pictures of the HG before I stripped it, but it was about the color of the one above. Now the SAR1 is looking a little more complete.

Still needs more coats of BLO rubbed in, but it's getting there. I'll be doing that over the next few months, lol. Should have brought it to work today and worked on that some.

OMG. That is beautiful! I remember the HG and I remember selling it to you now, only bc you mentioned it. That one and the other one I had both have some really tremendous grain IIRC. I LOVE these kinds of posts! I remember texting you about 100 pics so you could pick out which bake you wanted also, just for you to tell me "Just pick one and send it, I'll be happy with any!" Lol I had 2 top picks that were equally nice and couldn't decide!

Yep that SWEET BAKE is straight from the Stang Stash Too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, the grain on that HG is top notch. If i could hand pick one laying in a pile from the motherland I would pick this one! Fits the stock set perfect!

I've been meaning to do the work and swap for months, but just got around to it yesterday....I couldn't be more happy with what I found underneath and how it turned out.

I had an old Isuzu Trooper that would do that when it got below freezing. I just drive the damn thing anyway until it warmed up and released. It was "no suck" on dry roads....."much suck" on icy roads, lol. I miss that old trooper sometimes. Manual 4 wheel drive Jap everything with an American V6.

Was that one of the ones that had a French transmission?

Lol! Sometimes that's the way it works, but such a GREAT surprise when you find it!

A word of caution. This catastrophe was sometime in late October. There are some M+M10s that were imported into the country by M+M, which is the sole importer, but they were left unconverted, and sold to I.O. I was at my local gun shop and talking about whats available and we "found" these pretty cheap from a distributer so he ordered three of them. These rifles have I.O. stamped on the right side and M+M stamped in the usual place on the left side. That is good news cause it is easy to tell an I.O. M+M10. So the rifles come in and I'm all stocked until we go and try to put mags in them. They sent one of those cheap no name plastic mags with it , but we tried all the mags in the shop-- Magpul, Tapco, Surplus steel, etc. No magazines could be inserted and locked into place. Upon closer inspection. the magazine well was improperly cut, and the front trunnion magazine ledge was half machined off during the opening up of the magazine well. The rifles were ruined. All sent back. Here are the ones I am talk about. Avoid these.
