I have the same ice maker. Whirpool, KitchenAid, All the same. Mine had a similar problem 6 months ago. A piece of piece got stuck and triggered the sensor arm too early. Pull out the icemaker, clean it and look inside of the ice maker compartment for a piece of ice. I could not pull mine stuck piece out, so I pulled the tray, turned off the fridge and used hair dryer to melt it, them wiped the water. Put tray back, turned fridge on.
My MIL uses crushed ice and it gummed up the Ice making tray on top.

You cannot take it out anymore, bottom tray with the ice and corkscrew is all you can pull out, I stuck a hair dryer in there and aimed it in the top left corner, so it would get blasted over everything. Put your arm in, feel above the sensor bar, inside the tray and you I bet you can feel frozen ice in there.
PS if you can feel frozen ice vubes, point the hair dryer at them. Them are stoping the tray from being dumped.

That's nuts you can't remove it!

There's a condensation drip pan at the bottom of my fridge. They made it out of the thinnest plastic possible so of course it cracked. It's not really supposed to be removed either but I found a way. It was so brittle I basically slathered the whole thing in epoxy, then lined it with sheet plastic before I finagled it back into place. Years ago appliances would last for decades, now they're basically disposable.
