My running buddies are all 10-14 years younger than me, and one is a personal trainer. It helps a lot to run with the fast kids. That's a good pace, esp with the elevation. Oh to be young (er) again.....

ran 8.8 miles at Turkey Mountain. Cold front got here, it was 60 degrees, felt awesome!
You running? That’s awesome! I really would like to love running, I just really hate it so far.
It takes time to get your body used to the abuse. Don't give up, it gets better trust me. I used to not be able to make it a mile before it felt like I was puking up my lungs covered in blood.I wouldn’t necessarily call it running.![]()

Try to incorporate some hills into your run too. It sucks, but you'll see nearly immediate improvement. In just a couple weeks you'll be able to tell a difference. That is an accurate picture of me.
Yep - and when I was running at the park, it was because I needed cardio. Once I switched to trails, it's because I love it.It takes time to get your body used to the abuse. You can do it. You sure don't have to be skinny as a rail to be an excellent distance runner. A couple guys I run with are far from "petite", and I also run with one of the guy's dad (on the far left) who is 62 and still does very well (ran a 26 minute 5k a month ago in Candler Park on a super hilly course). That is an accurate picture of me.
