Honestly I didn’t look at the tag, I was just surprised they had one. But it had a threaded barrel, what appeared to be night sights(I think meprolite) and yea it was the black version, variant 1 I believe.
I just re-read this, HK45C, as in compact? I'll pass, looking for the HK45-T (full size HK45 with threaded barrel) ... my hands r too big fo a compact

If you don’t like the 92x grip, I may recommend against a USP. They’re CHONKY girls

Agreed, my near-by Academy had a regular HK45 (non threaded) in stock, when I asked if they happened to have the threaded version, the counter guy said no, but then tried to sell me the threaded FN45, I politely declined, then he asked why. I told him I've owned plenty of FNs, but just looking for the HK45T ... for some reason he couldn't phathom somebody passing on the $1300 FN for a HK
Id be suprised if the guys behind the academy counter can understand the difference between single action and double action
Hard to say, I've had some great and then not-so-great experiences at the McDonough store. There was one guy in there when I bought my M&P 9mm performance center 1.0 who knew his shit, but the dude that was trying to sell me FN this last time was obviously unaware of specifics
