Its an 8mm. Germany switched to the 8mm cartridge in 1905.

I have not shot it yet, but I am betting it shoots pretty good. The riflings show wear, but they are far from worn out. But one of these days I just might shoot it.

I've had this only a couple weeks but really like this Mauser. This is a 1907 Gewehr 98 made by Spandau. This rifle is amazing in just how intact it has remained after all these years. It has a very deep counterbore and is not importer marked. Your guess is as good as mine to how it got here...

I seen this at a local gun shop last Thursday. I took a picture of the serial number and did as much research as I could, and went back on Friday with money in hand to buy it. What do you think?

Today I spent some of my tax returns on a new gun safe. I picked it up at a local gun shop for $715 out the door. It's rated for 45 minutes at 1200 degrees. It's a 36 gun Sentinel. This is about the largest safe I can get down my basement steps. What do you think? Good buy...

I got to play with this pistol at a local gun shop. It's a pretty nice pistol but left me wondering why they didn't release it in 9mm. In 380 its OK, but if they do release it in 9mm it will be very cool.

I know very little about caring for leather. Is there anything I can do to the holster to preserve it and bring it back to life?

I did a little cleaning on this yesterday. Other than the holster wear its in great shape. The bore is like a mirror with very sharp lands and grooves. Now to take it out and shoot it, I bet its pretty accurate up to abut 25 yards.
