Primary Weapon Systems MK116 Upper - Review

Part 2: First Range Report So I slapped this upper onto my RRA lower and took it up to my local range this afternoon. For the first visit, I had intended to fire off 200 rounds - 100 Independence XM193 FMJs (5.56) and 100 Freedom Munitions 55 grain 223 reman's. I used Brownells 20 round mags...

Primary Weapon Systems MK116 Upper - Review

This is part 1 of ? featuring my very amateurish review of the Primary Weapon Systems (PWS) MK116 Mod 1 upper. I will be updating periodically as I intend this to be a very in-depth, multi-session review. I hope to push the upper with extensive use over the next several months. First, what is...

Educate me on the Colt M4 Carbine

I've seen these on slickguns for $600 if I recall. Once shipping and transfer fees are included, you're at around the same price. Personally, I would through in around another $200 or so and get the 6920 model. But that's just me.

This was a good deal for $300.

    Semi Auto Shotgun

I have a Beretta White Onyx O/U 20 ga with 26" barrel and interchangeable chokes. It is superb for any type of shooting here in GA. I've used it for skeet, trap, dove, ducks, and wild quail. A female in my family has a similar beretta setup and has killed numerous wild turkeys. To me - it's...

Talk me into/out of the AK74 platform and adding a new caliber

Nothing wrong with the rifle or the round really but I've avoided both since the spam cans were banned from import. If you can't shoot it for .14/round, it doesn't make as much sense. I can see some scenarios (already alluded to) where 545x39 may disappear or begin to exceed 556 in cost. I...

geissele makes one too. it's better. name one modern, battle rifle issued to standard frontline troops that doesn't have a shitty trigger. I'll be more specific..a trigger under six pounds. also, by modern I mean "steyr aug or later"...so 1977 and on. nothing intended as a dmr, either...

    300AAC Blackout Subsonic loads

if 300 were $0.30/round for 110 through 220 grain offerings, there wouldn't be much complaining. it bridges a number of situations very well...for instance i would never try a 200 yard shot on a white tail with a .45acp pistol caliber carbine. I also would never hope to suppress 556 at a level...

Crazy AR mag... slide open front cover

I admit to using a strip-lula loader from time to time but only because it makes loading quicker if you're in a hurry. Plus, if you have 556/223 on a stripper clip, you can load a full mag in seconds.

The new MPAs seem to be a pretty good deal at $550ish. I have no experience with them, but the MAC design seems to be a cheaper alternative for a 9 PCC. Also, they just released a version that takes Glock mags if I recall.

    Modern Day Classics

The ACRs can still be picked up for $1500ish. Beretta ARXs too. I can foresee these becoming scarce in a few years. Tavors seem to be shipping in pretty adequate quantities both the SAR and X95 models. If you're looking for one, the SAR should see some adequate discounting now that the X95 is...
