I lost 28lbs from Jan to March, then got busy and lazy. I put 8lbs back on. Starting back at it this morning.

Headed to gym

I noticed. Slacker.

Does anyone have any experience in a routine like the "fierce 5" or something similar ? Trying to get into a routine that is a little more organized then the current hodgepodge of daily exercises I'm doing now.

My usual routine is 10 minutes of cardio to get everything warmed up then heavy and low reps on bench machine , pyramid up and down.
Followed by medium weight hi reps curls and then hi rep low weight full range of motion curls.
Then triceps followed by a varying set or two of whatever I feel like, sometimes shoulders, sometimes light squats, dips, whatever floats my boat. Then finish with some cardio.

No drinks or supplements, just eat well and hydrate with plenty of water

That must have been one hell of a good porno.
Man, at 94+ degrees and that pace, I had a hard enough time just getting enough oxygen and sweating enough to keep from getting heat stroke. That was a bitch of a run.

Come run that 5k with me. I just posted a thread about it. Will be my first 5k. Technically I am not supposed to run and have not done so since they put all the metal in my leg 10 years ago, but I think I can hack it now.

I'll consider it. It looks like fun, but like a good way to hurt yourself. I'm in the middle of marathon training and I really don't want to risk injury to be honest.

Go to a real running store and get fitted for shoes, seriously. They'll video your gait and watch your stride and footstrike to recommend shoes that will complement the way you run, and help you to keep from hurting yourself. Don't order shoes online.

My wife buys her shoes at Peachtree Running Co in Kennesaw. I plan on going down there in the next week or so with her and getting fitted. I have only ever been able to wear New Balance (just going off what feels right to me) so I am interested in seeing what they say.

Yep, that's perfect. It'll make a big difference. 400 miles max on your shoes most likely, and just wear them for running. Also, don't wear cotton socks. Get something decent when you're there.

I LOVE my smart wool socks. I bought one pair last year for hunting, and now anytime somebody asks me what I want for a gift I tell them smartwool socks. If I could afford it, I would throw away every pair of cotton socks I have.

I used to have a deal with them where I could get them for half price. I miss that. I still haven't worn anything but Feetures or Smartwool fro probably the last 10 years.

Just curious, what's a decent running shoe cost?

You can't really go on price. Some of the most expensive have things that you might not need, want, or that even compliment your running style.
The last shoes I bought (3 weeks ago) were about $90. Saucony Cortana 4's. They don't have much cushion (don't like a squishy shoe), have decent stability, and are relatively flat at a 4mm heel to toe drop.
Look at the type(s) of shoe(s) that's best for your body type and stride, then look at prices. You can expect $80-$115 though pretty easily.

Also, make sure to replace them based on mileage, usually 300-400 miles, and not tread life on the bottom of the shoe. The foam will begin to breakdown before the tread wears out, and it will cause issues. I can always tell if I go too long because I start to get some knee and hip pain. New shoes, pain is gone.
