A friend of mine just bought a Bushmaster BA50 50BMG and is looking at optic options. He is looking at the Vortex Golden Eagle but wants options and opinions before dropping that much on an optic. He wants to shoot 800+ yards.

Where in the fuck did you deduce this fucktard conclusion?

Slow down cowboy. Easy mistake when you see 800 and are reading fast. I want to know why anyone would buy a 50 to shoot less than 800. That is fucktarded.

That has nothing to do with the "complaining about price" comment.

To your question. I have no ideas why he bought the gun to begin with. Where is a good place to shoot it and what's a good distance to sight it in?

There's probably a 50cal shooters board with an optics subforum. Just a wild guess.

I don't have a 50, so I have no good info to add.

I have no clue where in your neck of the woods. Probably private land. A 50 is good at 1000 but can do much more in skilled hands. When I read your original post I saw the 800 before I realized what it said. Numbers jump out more than letters. 800 for a scope on a 50 is fucktarded as you would say. I dont think anyone was trying to be a dick. I could be wrong. Chill out homie. Tell him to get on google. I found some good ones for 1500 to 2k.

So, is the $1500 optic he's looking at a pos and why?

he did mention the vortex golden eagle but i refrained from responding further because i have no experience with that particular setup.

i know that vortex offers a wide variety of scopes at different price points and qualities. the golden eagle is obviously not one their subcontracted models made in china.

having said that - i would probably just buy a night force and be done with it. i've never heard anyone say that nf is terrible other than the price. the golden eagle may rock but in my opinion - the night force brand has a higher perception of quality than vortex. and the night force is made in georgia if i recall which gives it another plus in my book.

I feel like an ass now because I did not see the vortex part of the op. In my defense, I didn't get overly emotional when the thread didn't go as expected.

I'm my defense, fucktard is not emotional. It's basic, daily use English. It probably shouldn't need and my boss would likely agree...
