When I was putting the gun away yesterday evening after hunting I accidentally hit the top turret. Ended up going out this afternoon to recheck zero and was glad I did. Not sure if the scope is not holding zero or if I have bumped them multiple times. It is a nikon p300blk scope. I just read up today and found out they have spring loaded turrets that allow you to reset to zero. Guess I will be doing that now, that way I can make sure they stay zeroed out. First 2 shots high and left. 100 yard resting on the front of the 4 wheeler. Should I be worried that the scope is not holding zero? 20181111_203125.jpg

Good to know. And I thought my only problem was forgetting to turn my illuminated scopes off.

I do. But with the tactical style turrets it doesn't doesn't take much. I just happened to notice it yesterday when I put it back in its spot.

Looks like your zero is good.

<--- Not a scope expert. But if you aim and hit within the red circle, I'm guessing you'll be ok.

But the first 2 shots (top left of target) are what's concerning. I maybe turned the top turret 2 clicks yesterday evening and they are 1/4 turn turrets.

The problem with "hunting rifles" is that we don't shoot them as often as we do our SD or practice rifles. At $0.75 per shot I can assure you that once my 30-30 is dialed in I don't check it with live fire again unless I have a hard drop or something. That being said, I have a bore sighter that plugs in to the muzzle of any caliber gun. It is a fixed target and if I ever have doubts I can do a quick check. So far my .223, 7.62x54r, 30-30 and 7.62x39 have all been within 2" at 100 yards after dialing them in on this rig. It's not 100% but it's a great starting point.

.75 a round? That's cute. My shotty rounds are 2.50 each.

If you're confident in the rifles/shotgun's current accuracy vs Sight picture I would highly recommend grabbing one of these and marking the spot in case you ever have to remove the optic or you throw it at a fucking annoying squirrel.

Hornady SST sabots. The 12 guage version of fuck you and everyone you ever knew.
I actually bought a mount for my dad's shotgun and had a holo sight mounted on it for his smooth bore. It mounted to the receiver and he took it off when he put his rifled barrel on it.

Those SST slugs are some badass rounds for hunting. For the short time I had a judge, I loaded it with the PDX shells. Gotta love the disc and pellet design of those bad boys.

Those SST rounds are like getting hit with dimes moving at 1000ft per second.

1793 ft/lbs ain't nothing to sneeze at either!

The SST® Shotgun Slug packs a target-dropping punch! The 12 GA 300 gr FTX®delivers a crushing 1793 ft/lbs of energy at 100 yards and the smaller, 20 GA 250 gr FTX®delivers an impressive 1200 ft/lbs of energy at the same distance.

Not a fan of Nikon tactical optics and their stupid turrets for this very reason.

Their capped scopes are pretty badass though. Problem is that people see a capped scope and they think fudd. How many times has anyone ever needed a turret? Tactitards need them.

Well I now have it set at a zero. That way I will at least be able to visually check to make sure I have not accidentally bumped one. But to say I was not happy to see it that far out of zero is an understatement.
