Question about Lee reloading dies?

When I got my press it came with these dies in 9mm. They work fine

I bought 44 mag dies and they don't have that adapter/collar. Without the collar they are to small to thread into my press.

Am I buying the right dies for my reloader? Do they all require that adapter?

You can take the adaptors off the 9 dies and put them on the .44 dies. It is the press that requires the adaptors, no main stream manufacturer produces dies with that size body.

You just need to buy more of the bushings. Don't take the one's off of your 9mm or else you have to reset the dies each time. These make it so you can leave the dies set how you want and remove them.

76 makes a great point. I don't set up my progressive that takes Hornady bushings for less than 500 rounds, and there is always tweaking the powder measure/ expander between calibers. After running 500 to 1500 rounds I break the dies down for cleaning. If I were using those on a single stage or turret press, and only loading 100 or 200 at a setting there is no way I would want to reset them every use.

After I thought about it, that's not what I was thinking of.

I haven't seen a press that needs the adapters that you have. Maybe you could leave one of the sleeves permanently installed in your press and thread the dies into it.

That's ok. I deprimed and cleaned several thousands of pieces of brass before I worked up the nerve to start loading it.

If you wanna come down sometime I have been loading up a really sweet 147gr round. Be more than happy to let you hear it and show you the basics of reloading. Those first couple of rounds were nerve racking but I don't think I'll ever shoot factory stuff again after hearing handloads
