We have a mini split for the room above garage. It’s prob 20ish’x30’ with pitched ceilings from roof. Unit isn’t used much, but it works very well to heat/cool room. The outside unit is under the deck.

When I was in Australia in 07 everyone had mini splits but I never asked why or how efficient they were.
I like the idea of being able to keep different rooms at different temps but I want whatever is most efficient at the end of the day.
