That is the greatest muzzle device of all time sir!
OH. I thought I read somewhere that it was necessary on certain rifles to counteract the “Dissy” effect of having the gas block/FSP too far forward on a 5.45.
Somewhere I also got the impression it wasn’t a great muzzle device.
My mistake. It does really add a lot of length to the barrel, though. But if it works, it is gold.

Riddle me this:
Why does that x39 have that huge weird muzzle device that doesn’t really work as a muzzle brake or flash hider on it??
The length was chosen so that AKM bayonet could still be used. It is extremlly effective on 5.45, even in full auto. It is very effective on x39. There are better stand alone flash supressors and better stand alone brakes, but AK74 style does both pretty good. Brake more than supress flash. Russians called it compensator, to give an idea. It does keep flash out of the front sight post, but lights up the side.

It's easily removable and replaceable with a standard slant brake. Which is probably the reason it has two bayonet lugs. Which I think is cool as shit.

I should say in my opinion the 74 style muzzle device is the best traditional device next to the Bulgarian 4 piece

AKM bayo will lock in on the front ring of the brake and and the front lug.
You probably saw the grenade launchers under the gas block n Kurdistan. They just started to become more common when I left USSR.

I used to love bloody Mary's when I had a hangover

Bloody Mary full of vodka
Blessed are thee among cocktails
Be with me now at my hour of death
Which I hope is soon....

So, would you consider this thing to be equal to or better than an M70AB2?
