Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions on polishing an AK bolt and carrier?
I knock all the paint or phosphate off with light sandpaper and oil takes forever then a dremel with a polishing compound like flitz but I’m sure there’s better for bling bling

It'll fit a WASR or most other AK variants. Dunno who is nearby you but any of us would probably be willing to teach you how. There's no need to be delicate with an AK
I’m nearby. I’d never worked on any AK before I got mine and I’ve done a bunch of shit to it now. Only thing I haven’t done yet with furniture is swap a stock (mine is an underfolder), but it doesn’t look difficult.

Rofl I remember when I first got into AKs and decided to swap triggers. So fucking many snakebites that night I had to take a break and pick up the next morning. @Jds556762 saw my cool tattoo from the experience

Rear stock super easy. One or two big screws and then pry out the stock using a flathead screwdriver inside the circle cutout.

Bakes are hard to collect. They’re addicting and fluctuate pretty wildly on the market in comparison to other “accessories”. When you own a bunch they’re worth some coin and easy to trade or sell off. When it’s time to try and build your stash back up it’s financially brutal and takes a lot of hunting lol. Ahhhhh the spiritual “Bakelite road”

So after 3.5 hours it came out okay. I'm happy with it. It's not exactly mirror shine but it's enough to be an eye catcher. Soaked it in distilled white vinegar for an hour, then used 2000 grid, followed by a little polishing, cleanup and then coated in gun oil/protective lube and baked at 350° for 30 minutes. Might work on it tomorrow. Too tired to continue tonight.
