The lever side folder was designed with one handed deploy in mind.

There is a hole there - I just doesn't come with the kit for some reason.

No alcohol? Now that’s cruel and unusual when dealing with in-laws. You should take a flask and double-up just as you’re getting out of the car.
That’s what I did back when my MIL was coming over before I figured out how to get along with her.
