The way to check lockup is to pull the trigger DA and hold trigger back, then grab cylinder with other hand and try turn it. Do this with each chamber in the cylinder. It shouldn’t be loose and wobbly. If it is on all of them, the cylinder lock (bottom of frame) might be worn and need replacement. If on only one, then it’s the slot in the cylinder.
To check timing, you’d have to shoot it and make sure it’s not spitting lead. This happens if the hand at the rear of the frame window is worn, or if the cylinder star is worn. Only way to check that without firing would be to have a .356” diameter pencil you could pass down the barrel into the chamber during lockup test.
But realistically, look for excessive wear in those areas. Not much wear, you’re probably good.
