There are two FALs I'm trying to decide between.

One is a short gas system 16" with a forged LMT Type 2 receiver, but the remainder are all commercial DSA parts. I'd throw my para lower on it and have a compact 308 rifle that weighs about 7.75 pounds...though that might not be very fun.

The other is a matching Stg 58 parts kit on a forged Imbel Type 3 receiver. Matching parts kit is hard to find now and Stg 58 parts are the absolute best in the FAL world.

So I’m guessing the imbel rcvr is the weak link on the second gun?

Yes, but not really. It is top quality forged, but I like type 2 aesthetic more
