Will probably have to do it in phases. If you cut them that low in one go, it may shock them and they die. I’d wait till after winter for sure.

They will look like shit either way for a few months.

The ones i cut completely down at the old house have recovered and are blooming now. I'm debating doing that with these or just straight ripping them out a la @KERTWOOD style

How can I cut these 6' tall overgrown bastards down to something manageable? Do it now or wait til it gets colder? Can't tell you how much I CANNOT STAND high maintenance shrubbery and yard work.
