Very interesting. The Colt M4 fails at around the same round count during destructive testing in the same way, barrel blow out. Seems like 500-600 sustained full auto rounds is the magic number for barrel failure for the worlds two iconic assault rifles.
I have fired both on full auto, and I can tell you there is a difference in controllability between the two. The 74 is much easier to control on full auto. Really no muzzle rise, a very flat recoil impulse. That series 100 break really works well on full auto!
