No detent pin, could I drill and install a detent pin myself?

Need to swap the front sight to put the pin in.
Use a 14mm crush washer or a counter nut.
Galil ACE uses a 5/8 nut that you tighten against the muzzle device.

Not just heavy, but all the weight is at the front of the rifle. The rifle gas system also doesn't allow for enough dwell time so the rifle is not as dead nuts reliable as it should be.

Would a rifle buffer help?

Tried opening up the gas port more?
