Hmmm...So I can't remove the followers without tearing the mags apart?
That might be a rather limiting situation
Normal mags have a welded spot at the top inside the mag to keep the follower from popping all the way up. Yugo mags don't have the weld, so the follower is stopped by the feedlips.
You can take the springs and followers out the mag through the bottom. But you'll want to grind or file the weld on the new mag bodies that you use. No guarantee that will work but I don't see why it shouldn't.
