According to Mark Graham (Gun Plumber over on the AK/FN files and owner of Arizone Response Systems) the metric FN's have no metric measurements.Oh...you were serious
FALs were originally designed using metric measurements. The Brits decided they could stomach that so the designed the excellent L1A1, but they drew them in inch measurements. The difference is enough that not everything interchanges. Inch mags have a slightly different lock up that metric mags.
Supposedly the inch pattern guns balance a bit better than metric, but I've never handled an inch gun. I cant imagine it's a huge difference.

"There are no metric dimensions on a FAL - all are inch/Imperial. Some have metric equivalents, but this whole inch pattern and metric pattern creates a mass confusion.
They should be "Commonwealth" (Aus, New Guinea, New Zealand, Canada, UK, Malaysia, etc.) and "European" (everyone else). With The Indian FAL being an unauthorized clone that doesn't match either.
The only metric dimension on any FAL is the M25x1.5 receiver thread on an Izzy, which is a 75% overlap with 1"x16"
I remember being shocked when I read that a few years ago. But that guy has forgotten more about FALs than the rest of us will ever know.
