have carried a AR style rifle on many occasions in terrible situations and always locked and loaded.

My cat told me that.
I guess it may seem weird to y’all, but since I was never in the military, and grew up in a house without guns, I’ve had to learn as I go.
I always carried my pistol chambered, but didn’t carry a rifle caliber gun that way because it’s only been in the past 3 years that I started carrying my AR pistol around. Never occurred to me until the other day.
Thanks for the solid advice, I’ve amended my policy.
