In my 20s and 30s I'd get them like that. Couldn't drive, couldn't walk. Throwing up, etc. About 4 times a year. Sometimes a smell like food or perfume would trigger it.

Eventually they tapered off and I never get them anymore. No idea why I had them or why they stopped.

My son is almost 10. He gets them and they're triggered by smell also. I hope his go away sooner than mine did. I may have to get him checked out so he doesn't suffer the way I did.

I had a similar but different experience growing up. Agree they lessen as you get older and then just stop occurring. No more migraines but other stuff starts to hurt!

As my uncle once said: "Getin' old don't have much to offer." He was in his 80s then.
