I only see the one hole on top. Couldn’t that be covered by a rear base plate for the rear sight? I figured if I threw in 300-400 bucks I could get it back to original. New stock new bolt and rear sight

Ask for a picture of the top of the receiver, so you can figure out who made it. I'm no K98 expert my any means, but I'm not aware of repro K98 stocks. I'm sure you can get all of the other surplus parts you need for the rifle, but I think it would nickel and dime you to death before you had a correct K98.

It’s a BYF marked receiver. A surplus stock can be had for around 200-300 bucks. A new bolt 50-85 bucks and rear sight 30 bucks. Floor plates probably aren’t too much. The drill tap thing concerns me tho. I told him I needed to check that out before I sealed the deal and he was cool with it. Just seeing those waffen marks I feel like it may be worth a shot to resurrect it
