I need to get a portable cooking system for my truck. Some sort of mini propane or butane cook top, a cast iron pan, and a water jug for washing it off, and some way to store it all. Ideas? I want to be able to cook my lunches out here in the field. I'm sick of fast food

Here's the cheap start:

I've heard good things about the BRS stove, only bad I've heard is their not as tough as MSR. If you're not backpacking with it you oughtta be fine. Grab a can of gas at BPS, Academy, prob even Wall World.

This and the Stainless pot will get you boiled water, or, if you're careful, you can heat up some canned chili, stew, menudo, whatever. "Slow cooking" is not the strong suit of these, but they will work.

Having a dehydrated meal in a ziplock FREEZER bag is better. Boil water, add to freezer bag, wait 10-15 min, you're GTG.
Idahoan potatoes, Knorr sides - look in the grocery where they sell noodles, spaghetti sauce, etc.

I dehydrate cooked ground deer with veggies, seasoning, then add to a small packet of Ramen or Idahoan potatoes - makes a very filling meal, easy, cheap.

Amarillo by morning

I was thinking of that song yesterday. I remember when it was brand new.

Last year I was doing the Bataan Death March Marathon, and got hooked up next to a guy that was blasting old country. We did some terrible karaoke to "Amarillo by Morning" and others as we hoofed along. Great memories.
