An open letter to the gun community from HK’s marketing department:

At HK, we stuck a piston on an AR15, just like a bunch of other companies have done, dating back to about 1969. However ours is better, because we refuse to sell it to civilians. Because you suck, and we hate you.

Our XM8 is the greatest rifle ever developed. It may melt, and it doesn’t fit any accessories known to man, but that is your fault. If you were a real operator, you would love it. Once again, look at Rainbow Six, that G36 sure is cool isn’t it? Yeah, you know you want one.And by the way, check out our new HK45. We decided that humans don’t need to release the magazine with their thumbs. If you were a really manly teutonic operator, you would be able to reach the controls. Plus we’ve fired 100,000,000 rounds through one with zero malfunctions, and that was while it was buried in a lake of molten lava, on the moon. If you don’t believe us, it is because you aren’t a real operator.

By the way, our cheap, mass-produced, stamped sheet metal guns like the G3 and MP5 are the bestest things ever, and totally worth asinine scalpers prices, but note that cheap, mass-produced, stamped sheet metal guns from other countries are commie garbage. Not that it matters, because you’re civilians, so we won’t sell them to you anyway. Because you suck, and we hate you, but we know you’ll be back. We can beat you down like a trailer park wife, but you’ll come back, you always do.

It's been a rough week fellas.
I haven't been on here much lately.
3 of my employees got laid off on Wednesday along with 20 other mechanics.
Yesterday 10 more got it and then today the rest of the mechanics were let go.
Right now the only people left are me and my 6 employees and 2 maintenance supervisors.
We went from around 50 or so employees to 9 in ATL.
The 9 of us that remain are on 25% furlough so one week a month we are off without pay.
I am not feeling to good about what is coming this week.

I still love a fixed 4 power scope for a basic, lightweight hunting gun when I go to my favorite stand with a plot about 75 yards from the tree line. But it's about 3 miles from where we park the truck so we don't like to lug a ton of weight in. Did that once and my buddy shot a bruiser and we ended up making 2 trips to the truck. 12 miles that day up and down the hollers and hills isn't fun, especially when you're already lugging around extra weight inside of your skin.

I completely get that. Fixed power scopes shine beyond 25 meters in lighted environments. Low/No light inside that distance is where they really start to suck. NODs and PEQs solve that nicely. But I don't have either, so its light and optic for me.

I actually run my Accupoint a "1" all the time inside of 100 meters. 300 meter hits at "4" are easy....really easy actually. I have made 600 yds hits at "4" on a KD range, that's not that difficult either, but it is beyond the combat effective range of M193 though, so it's all show and no go, lol.

No real world experience outside of this as a hobby, but I do agree. I can’t tell you the last time I shot the AR with an eotech. The only red dot that gets used is the SBR with the aimpoint pro.

^^^^^^^Has a $3k AR and shudders at the thought of a $2,800 scope. Makes sense. I'm about to just give you a loan to get that KAC the quality optic that it deserves. I have a pretty nice NightForce that I'll sell you for super cheap. It's @AirOpsMgr's but he won't notice. I've had it for over a year now anyways.
