Once you run a 1-4/6/8 variable optic you wouldn't want to go back to a fixed magnification anyway.
ACOGs are like AKMs.....nostalgic and desirable for us.
But there are much better options out there now days for fighting rifles.

After having several 1-4x scopes, a 1-6x and a 1-8x, I'd really recommend getting either a 1-6 or a 1-8. You'll always wish you had more magnification than just 4x any time you shoot at anything past 150-200yds.

No real world experience outside of this as a hobby, but I do agree. I can’t tell you the last time I shot the AR with an eotech. The only red dot that gets used is the SBR with the aimpoint pro.
