Both eyes open and that is not a problem.
Well duh lol you think the army would let me squint through my Aimpoint without skull dragging me into a ditch and fixing me? It does matter if you run optics with thicc ass bodies or like an RMR on a long stick you’ll see the difference with FOVs

I like 1/3 the best the height does make a big difference. It’s faster into view. Your cheek placement don’t gotta b perfect.
At 2.5” above bore I’ll keep my optic as close to bore as possible. If I ran fixed irons I would absolutely opt for a 1/3 hold. As far as catching your dot quicker that’s more negligible than the minor hold over difference imho

with fixed sights I’m with you
If my sights fold get my shit closer to bore

Right, but on that particular gun and optic it won't be an issue. I agree with what you said though. There are exceptions for everything but generally on a standard carbine and an EOTech both eyes open will give you an unlimited FOV. I love EOTech's on my AR's for that very reason(and dat reticle tho!).
